What is it:

EK Industries Deionized Reagent Water (REF 15335-20L) is a 100% pure, ASTM Type I-grade water packaged in a 20 liter (5 gallon) Cubitainer® with a built-in spigot for easy dispensing. It's manufactured in the USA by EK Industries Inc. and meets or exceeds ASTM Type I, CAP/CLSI Clinical Laboratory Reagent Water (CLRW), and USP-NF Purified Water standards — making it compatible with HORIBA ABX Pentra clinical chemistry analyzers and any other instrument or application requiring Type I reagent water.

What it's used for:

ASTM Type I reagent water is the highest-purity water grade used in laboratory work. It's specifically designed for applications where even trace contaminants would compromise results:

  • System fluid for clinical chemistry analyzers (cuvette washing, sample dilution, probe rinsing)
  • Reconstituting lyophilized reagents, calibrators, and controls
  • Preparing buffers, dilutions, and reagents for sensitive analytical methods
  • Laboratory, scientific, R&D, and manufacturing use

Because the water is packaged at 18 megaohm-cm resistivity — the theoretical maximum for completely pure water — it's free of all organic and inorganic contaminants, ensuring it doesn't interfere with your testing accuracy or analyzer performance.

What's included:

  • 1 × 20 L (5 gallon) Cubitainer® with dispensing spigot
  • Manufacturer REF: 15335-20L
  • 100% deionized, ASTM Type I reagent grade water
  • Manufactured in the USA by EK Industries Inc.
  • Certificate of Analysis (COA) available for every lot
  • Free of all organic and inorganic contaminants

Quality standards met:

  • ✅ ASTM Type I (D1193) — highest grade defined by ASTM for reagent water
  • ✅ CAP / CLSI Clinical Laboratory Reagent Water (CLRW)
  • ✅ USP-NF Purified Water
  • ✅ Packaged at 18 megaohm-cm resistivity (theoretical maximum purity)

Compatible with:

  • HORIBA ABX Pentra 400, C400, and C200 chemistry analyzers
  • Other clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunology analyzers requiring Type I water
  • General laboratory, R&D, and manufacturing applications

Storage & shipping note:

Store at room temperature in a clean, dry area. Keep the Cubitainer sealed until use. Ships from U.S. fulfillment — no special handling required.

FAQs:

What is ASTM Type I reagent water?

ASTM Type I is the highest-purity water grade defined by ASTM D1193 — the recognized standard for laboratory reagent water. It has resistivity greater than 18 MΩ-cm, total organic carbon (TOC) below 50 ppb, and is filtered to 0.22 µm. It's used in the most demanding analytical applications, including clinical chemistry analyzers, HPLC, trace analysis, and reconstitution of lyophilized reagents.

Can I use this water in my HORIBA ABX Pentra analyzer?

Yes. EK Industries Type I reagent water meets or exceeds the purity grade required by HORIBA ABX Pentra clinical chemistry analyzers (Pentra 400, C400, C200), and is suitable as a system fluid for cuvette washing, sample dilution, and probe rinsing. Many labs use Type I reagent water as a cost-effective alternative to manufacturer-branded reagent water without sacrificing accuracy or instrument performance.

Is this the same as HORIBA-branded reagent water?

No — this is manufactured by EK Industries Inc., not HORIBA. However, because it meets ASTM Type I, CAP/CLSI CLRW, and USP-NF Purified Water standards, it's a fully compatible substitute for HORIBA-branded reagent water in Pentra chemistry analyzers, typically at a significantly lower cost per liter.

What does the Cubitainer® format mean?

A Cubitainer® is a collapsible-liner cube with a built-in dispensing spigot. It maintains water purity longer than open bottles by minimizing air exposure as water is dispensed, and the spigot makes it easy to fill analyzer reservoirs without spills.

Can I get a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?

Yes — a Certificate of Analysis is available for every lot of EK Industries reagent water. If you need one for compliance or QC documentation, contact customersupport@transperify.com with your lot number.

Does this product need refrigeration?

No. Store at room temperature in a clean, dry area, with the Cubitainer kept sealed until use.

How long does a 20 L Cubitainer typically last?

It depends on usage volume. A high-throughput clinical chemistry lab can go through one Cubitainer every 2–4 weeks. Lower-volume labs may make one last several months. Most labs keep at least one spare on hand to avoid testing interruptions.

Can I set up a recurring order?

Yes. Because reagent water is continuously consumed, scheduled reorders are common for this product. Contact us at customersupport@transperify.com to set one up.
